Obituary
Gretchen Smith Sitz passed away peacefully on January 9, 2018. The first of five sisters, she was born on September 19, 1928 in Allerton, Iowa and graduated from Allerton High School in 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Daisy Smith; her husband, Ardell Sitz; and three of her sisters, Mary Williams, Sandra Davis, and Caroline Wampner. She spent over half a century as a loving wife and partner to her husband in their APHA horse business. She also retired after many years from Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. and from civil service at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She is survived by her sister, Betty Thomas; her two daughters, Terry Willson and Sherry Shira; four grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Corydon Cemetery, Corydon, Iowa on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2 PM.
