Greg was born in Waterloo, IA the son of Eugene and Virginia (Prudhon) Gavlock. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He had lived in California from 1975 – 1996 when he and his wife Dixie returned to Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren on the farm, and singing in barbershop chorus.

Surviving are his wife and best friend of 32 years, Dixie Gavlock; daughter, Shelly (Jon) Greenwell of St. Charles; grandchildren Parker and Katie Greenwell; step-mother, M. Berneice Gavlock of West Des Moines; sisters, Sheryl Hinz, Carol Chavez, Sharon Dunfee, Peggy Rohde, Karla Walter and Kary Kosar. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother and granddaughter, Samantha Greenwell.

Visitation will be held 6 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 24 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
