Services for Grant LeRoy Woodruff, 78, who passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church rural Indianola. Burial with military rites will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. LeRoy was born on January 10, 1934 to Silas Rodney and Retha (Morr) Woodruff in rural Warren County. He was the 3rd generation on the family farm. He attended country school and graduated from Indianola High School in 1953 and Simpson College in 1957. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. LeRoy was united in marriage on September 23, 1960 to Patsy Cosper, the love of his life. LeRoy was a farmer, dairyman, insurance agent and most recently, school bus driver. He especially loved driving the Indianola girl's softball team. He was recently honored by the Iowa Guernsey Breeders Association as the 2011 Iowa Pioneer Breeder. LeRoy was a member of the American Legion, Indianola Odd Fellows and Farmers Chapel Church. LeRoy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy Rizzo and his brother, R. Duane Woodruff. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Farmers Chapel Church, Indianola, IA. LeRoy's request was that family and friends wear casual clothing for the service.
