Grant was born in Lacona, Iowa. He served with the Navy, Army and the Air Force retiring in 1986 after 33 years at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following retirement he worked for Noble Ford and Sternquist Construction in Indianola. Grant enjoyed fishing, NASCAR Races and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, 2 sons, Kelly (Pauline) Needles of Des Moines, Kurt (Becky) Needles of Indianola; brothers, P.J. (Lois) Needles of Melrose, Stanton (Helen) Needles of St. Joseph, MI; 2 grandchildren Maggie and Austin.

Visitation will be held 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25, at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the American Legion Post # 165 or the American Cancer Society.
