Celebration of Life Services for Gloria Jean Roush, 97, of Indianola, who passed away Friday, March 6, 2026 at Westview Care Center in Indianola, Iowa, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Norwood Cemetery, Rural Lucas County.

Gloria Jean Roush was born February 19, 1929, in Chariton, Iowa, to Freddy and Vera (Nine) Curtis and was raised in the Chariton/Norwood area. Growing up, she loved the farm and was often found working alongside her father. On May 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Thomas Roush and moved to Indianola, where they raised their three children, Steve, Terri and Cheryl.

Jean treasured time spent with family and friends, whether playing cards and games (Yahtzee), dancing, following the Iowa Hawkeyes or a fun day at the Iowa State Fair. She attended many dance recitals and sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always their biggest fan. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Her wonderful Sunday meals will always be remembered, especially when she treated everyone with her apple dumplings. Jean worked in two local food stores and a hatchery when the children were young.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve (Karla) Roush, and Terri Fehrer, both of Indianola; five grandchildren, Jany (Nick) Furman of Cedar Rapids, Stephany (Casey) Goodhue of Carlisle, Tyson (Terri) Fehrer of Indianola, Jaime (Steve) Myers of West Des Moines, Jontie Roush of Indianola; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Kinsey of Indianola, and Betty Harsh of Greenfield; many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas; daughter, Cheryl Roush.
