Glenn Kuehl, Jr. "Butch" passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. He was born to Glenn Kuehl, Sr. and Betty (DeBoest) Kuehl on July 30, 1943 in Perry, IA. Butch grew up in Dallas Center, IA and graduated from Dallas Center High School, where he excelled in all sports. After high school, he went to Simpson College where he played football for four years. He was selected to the All-Conference team as a sophomore and later inducted into the Simpson College Hall of Fame. He was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Butch married Arlette (Marow) in 1965. From 1966 to 1970, he taught physical education and coached for the Johnston School District. In 1970, he began teaching and coaching in Indianola, where he taught high school physical education, Driver Education and Health. He was also an assistant football coach and tennis coach. He retired from teaching in 1999. Besides teaching, he was a basketball official, realtor, very active in the Indianola Little League program, and enjoyed watching his sons in their activities.
Survivors include his wife, Arlette; son, Brent (Gail) and grandsons, Baker, Brenden, Cameron of Ankeny; son, Kurt (Jane) and granddaughter, Zoe of Montpelier, VT; and sister-in-law, Gail (Frank) Gerig of Woodland Park, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 24 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A private family service with burial will be held at a later date in the Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Alzheimer's Disease Research 22512 Gateway Center Drive, PO Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950.
