IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geraldine
Kingery
January 4, 1934 – March 11, 2025
Services for Geraldine Kingery, 91, of Indianola, who passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Indianola First United Methodist Church with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Jerri was the youngest of seven children born in rural Marion County, Iowa to an ordinary but extraordinary family. Two of her three brothers served in the military, as did three of her brothers-in-law and husband, Wayne.
Therefore, Jerri and her three sisters shared a double sisterhood, one formed from birth and another forged as servants to our country as wives and sisters of veterans.
The Nichols clan (and make no mistake, they remain a clan) has accomplished and continues to accomplish many things, but beyond any accomplishment, their humility and dignity stand out.
Jerri was the sole survivor of the original seven Nichols children and their spouses until March 11th. However, Wayne and Jerri's four surviving children, nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren will carry the torch onward. Not to mention all of Jerri's brothers and sister's contributions to the family tree.
Jerri would often say as you departed, especially if you were visiting after an illness or mishap, "You go on about your lives. I'll be fine" and she is fine.
Jerri is survived by her daughters, Roxanne (Jim) Lewis, Laurey (Caroll) Oberender, Janet (Jeff) Dirks and son, Marc (Scott Allred) Kingery; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Kirsten) Lewis, Douglas Lewis, Benjamin Lewis, Katie (Mark) Bond, Matthew (Katie) Oberender, Nathan (Victoria) Oberender, Olivia (Lane) Pralle, Adam Dirks and Alexandra Dirks; fourteen great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Doris Kingery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Kingery; son Mike Kingery; parents, William and Fern Nichols; siblings, Maxine Moore, Harold Nichols, Leonard Nichols, Donald Nichols, Marjorie Jordan and Pauline Klootwyk.
Visitation will be held prior to services from Noon to 2 p.m. at the church. Memorials in memory of Jerri may be given to the Indianola First United Methodist Church or Westview Care Center.
