Services for Geraldine Evelyn Douglas, 76, who passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at home, will be held 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 31 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I. O.O.F. Cemetery.

Geraldine  "Gerri" Evelyn Douglas was born April 19, 1940 in Indianola, Iowa to Gerald and Lois Douglas.  She passed away on January 25, 2017 at the age of 76.

Gerri worked at Hawkeye Insurance in Des Moines and later at Great American Insurance in California.  After her retirement in 2003 she moved back to Indianola to be near her family.

Geraldine is survived by her sister, Charlotte Guilford; nephews, James Guilford and Douglas (Kimberly) Guilford; great- nephews, Ryan (Jennifer) Guilford, Derek (Kate) Guilford, Matt Guilford and Jackson Guilford and great-great-nephews, Isaac and Nathaniel.  Geraldine was preceded in death by her father, Gerald and her mother, Lois.

Gerri was a lover of carbs and coffee. She could often be found with Jackson at Des Moines area restaurants, including her favorites Table 128 and Louie's Wine Dive.  Gerri had a big personality, an infectious laugh and never knew a stranger.  She cherished her appointments with her hair stylist, Ellen Miller.  Gerri excelled at telling long stories and was very proud of her family and especially of Jackson's tennis and his accomplishments.  She will be remembered for her generosity and large collection of Starbucks gift cards.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 pm., Monday, January 30 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given in Geraldine's name to the Indianola Athletics Department for the tennis program.
