Geraldine Mae (Streeter) Barker, 88, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Geraldine "Jerry" was born May 28, 1927, on a farm near New Virginia, Iowa and graduated from New Virginia High School in 1944. She married John "Jack" Barker on August 25, 1946. Jerry worked at Ruth Scott's farm near Milo as a housekeeper and later as a bookkeeper at Peoples Bank in Indianola.
Jerry enjoyed gardening on the farm, sewing and crafting. She loved hosting family dinners and Christmas celebrations. Jerry and Jack loved to dance and belonged to several square dance clubs. They were
members for over 50 years. Jerry loved people and they loved her. She was a good conversationalist and made everyone feel good just being with her. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her husband, John "Jack" Barker; sisters-in-law, Sharon and Mary Streeter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Olive Streeter; brothers, Robert, Virgil, Merrill and Lyle; and sister, Linda Miller.
