Gerald D. "Conk" Conklin was born September 21, 1924 to William "Bill" Conklin and Maude Warren Conklin. Conk lived in Warren County, IA, most of his life. He was united in marriage to Mary Beth Van Scoyk who preceded him in death, in 2015. To this union two children were born.

Conk dedicated his life to the people of Warren County for over 40 years, building many roads and keeping them open in harsh winter snows.

Survivors include his daughter, Sherry Allsup of Phoenix, AZ; son, Dean Conklin of San Bernardino, CA; grandson, Scott Allsup of Phoenix, AZ; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and son-in-law Dennis "Red" Allsup, who passed in 2017.

Conk passed away August 9, 2021 at the Carlisle Care Center, following months in the hospital. A Celebration gathering will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA.

Memorial contributions may be given in Conk's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
