GEORGIA KAY OAKES

A Celebration of Life Visitation for Georgia Kay Oakes, 71, who passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Westview Care Center, will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 15 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. to greet friends.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Georgia's life.

Georgia was born on September 11, 1944 in Long Beach, CA. and graduated from Long Beach Poly High School in 1962.  Georgia enjoyed hot air ballooning and was devoted to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Julie) Oakes of Xenia, OH, Sheri (Mark) Moen of Ackworth and Greg (Deanna) Oakes of Indianola; sister, Sandra (David) Kimbler of Tamarac, FL; grandchildren, Chris (Melynnda) Oakes, Ashley (Josh) Oakes, Katie (Aaron) Oakes,  Savanna (Brandon) Oakes, Amber Moen, Bridget Oakes and Corey Oakes; great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Lilly Oakes and Jameson Oakes, cousin, Diane (Clifford) Whitehead of Apple Valley, CA and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth (Cass) McDowell (1973) and her father Fred O. McDowell (1980).
