Services for George William Andrew, 79, who died Monday, September 28, 2009 at home will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 1 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Indianola. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2:30p.m. prior to services.

George William Andrew son of Catherine and Merrell Andrew was born October 9, 1929 a mile south west of Spring Hill. He attended Mt. Hope School and finished at Spring Hill.

In 1949 he was united in marriage to Shirley Knipp and they were married 60 years on May 25, 2009. They became the parents of Anna (Mike) Brown, Bonnie (Rodger) Comer and Jean (Mike) Garrison. George had six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

George loved the Lord and farming. In 1964 he received outstanding conservation award from Indianola Chamber of Commerce.

Cancer began to take its toll so he could not farm. In 1987 he was given 10 years, but was allowed many more. When he could no longer farm he did maintenance at South Gate Senior Housing in Chariton. He later retired back in Indianola close to his girls.

He loved his family and loved to read God's word. He loved to laugh and was very entertained by his 10 wonderful great-grandchildren. We will never forget his love, his wonderful smile and our wonderful farmer, "Outstanding in his field."

He is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice in his name.
