Gene Westley DeWitt, 82, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016.  He was born in West Cherry Township, KS and retired in Indianola, IA in 1999.  He served in the United States Navy as a Seaman Apprentice along with being part of the Cherryvale Police Force.  He was well traveled and had many unique careers throughout his life.  He was a loving and caring man who was very passionate about his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeanie Marie DeWitt (Lincoln, NE); son, Travis Gene (Stacy) DeWitt (Indianola); siblings, Teddy, Don, Ann and Rose; grandchildren, Nathan (Meagan) Kloberdanz, Wyatt DeWitt and Luke DeWitt; as well as great-grandchildren, Lizzy and Reagan.  He is proceeded in death by his parents Aubrey and Agatha (Smirl) DeWitt, his wife Eleanor (Bowlin) DeWitt, and sister Barbara Sue.

No services will be held at this time. Private burial of cremains will be held at a later date.
