Celebration of Life services for Gary Albert Bernstrauch Sr, 60, who passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 25 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

In his younger years he became very interested in motorcycles, always working on his own or helping friends. He went on to build two motorcycles from raw steel into works of art that won several awards. Once he started a family, things slowed down for him and he started a career as an over the road truck driver and did that for nearly 30 years up until this last year when his health started to deteriorate. He loved to go to garage sales and talk to people. He took up fishing and loved to do that anytime he had free. If he was home, you could find him in the garage fixing (or reengineering) anything that the neighbors would bring by.

Survivors include his wife, Melody; children, Sarah (John) Slagle, Jordan (Lilia) Blanchard, Sommer Bernstrauch, Gary Bernstrauch Jr.; grandchildren, Juliana, Jayce, Kalei, Finnegan, Olivia; mother, Shirley Clarke; sister, Bev (Ron) Shivers.  He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Bernstrauch.
