A lifelong resident of Warren County he was a farmer and raised livestock on a farm south of Indianola. For the past five years he had been a bus driver for Indianola Community School District. He was active in the Farm Bureau and Warren County Republican Party. Vernon was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 70.

Surviving are his wife Audrey of rural Indianola; three daughters, Sandra Lee (Warren) Hunerdosse Lisk of Indianola, Carla Ann (Craig) Ball of Indianola, and Debra Kay (Stanley) Bingham of Melcher Dallas; three brothers Darl (Dorothy) and Wayne (Carolyn) Hunerdosse of rural Indianola, Roland (Barbara) Hunerdosse of Knoxville; sister, Neola Hawk of Davenport; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister Esther Hon and grandson Chuck Thurman.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 -8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22 at the funeral home where the family will be present to receive friends from 6.00-800 p.m. Fraternal Odd Fellows services will be held Tuesday evening at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Farm Bureau Youth Scholarship Program.
