Elton Frederick Echterling, 94, son of Elias and Lottie Echterling, was born March 27, 1923, in Parnell, Missouri, and passed away December 7th, 2017.

Fred graduated from Parnell High School in Parnell, MO.  He served in the United States Air Force during WWII, flying 62 combat missions as a gunner on a B25 Bomber.  He was a factory worker and part-time farmer for over 50 years.

Fred was married to Germaine C. Thompson on July 4th, 1953.  They were blessed with four children.  He is survived by his wife, Germaine; children, Cindy (Mark) Eubank, Jeannine Roland (Jerry Ayers), Eric (Mary) Echterling, and Amy (Dave) Morrell; grandchildren, Rebecca (Josh) Turner, Brandon (Brittney Kubik) Roland, Zachary and Ryan Morrell; great grandchildren Colton, Lexie, Aiden, and Kase Turner, and Beau Roland.

There will be a Celebration of Life Visitation from 3 to 6 p.m., December 27th, at Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Avenue in Indianola, Iowa with the prayer service to begin at 6 p.m.  Memorials in honor of Fred may be made to Wesley Life, 1203 NE Street, Indianola, Iowa 50125.  Special thanks goes out to Matt, Stacy, and Laurie from Wesley Life.
