Franklin Wilson was born February 16, 1936 to parents Glenn and Mildred (Vertz) Wilson in Valley Junction (West Des Moines), Iowa. He passed away in Indianola on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Franklin graduated from Valley High School in 1954. He joined the Iowa Air National Guard in Des Moines and worked there for 31 years, retiring in 1985. In 1967, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Wiley. To this union two sons were born, Phillip Wilson and Raymond Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Hogue; sons, Phillip and Ramond Wilson; step-son, Russell Johnson; 5 grandchildren, Arron (Naomi) Johnson, Christina (Travis) Steele, Hunter (Rebecca) Wilson, Lauren Wilson and Cole Wilson; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Charlotte; parents; and sister, Berthamaie Newsmen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Kiya Koda Humane Society of Indianola, Iowa.
