Frank Brunia passed away on June 4, 2010, at 92 years of age.  Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Burial with military rites will be at Scotch Ridge Cemetery.

He was born to William Frans Brunia and Ijnske (Ena) Mames Heemstra on a farm near Eddyville, Iowa, on February 7, 1918. Later his family moved to Des Moines where he grew up. He attended North High School and enlisted in the Navy where he served in the South Pacific in the Second World War.

He worked for his father in the electrical business before starting his own business, Brunia- Johnson Electric Supply, in 1961. He continued to work at the business until 1995, where he retired to enjoy farming, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.

In 1946, he was united in marriage to Lois (Stookey) Brunia and they had three children.

He is survived by his wife Lois; son, Fred Brunia of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Alice Ann (Ken) Weaver of Indianola, IA; daughter-in-law, Edee Brunia of Norwalk, IA; special niece, Susan (John) Alshouse of Bondurant, IA; and brother, William Brunia of Urbandale, IA. He had eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Frank William Brunia, parents, two sisters and four brothers.
