FLORENCE ANN LEE

Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola, Iowa, with visitation held one hour prior to service. Graveside interment of cremains will be held at a later date in Camp Butler, Springfield, Illinois.

Florence Lee died suddenly and peacefully on July 2, 2018.  She was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 29, 1930 to James and Nettie Cirillo and married Gerald Lee on February 19, 1949. Florence and Gerald had four children, Gerald Jr. (Jerry), Linda, Mary and Lisa.

Florence grew up in Springfield and spent many years of her life there before moving to Iowa in 1974.  She worked for Cargill for close to 25 years before retiring.  Retirement did not suit her active lifestyle and in 2004, she became the part-time Parish secretary at St. Elizabeth Seaton Church and worked there until her death.  She truly loved this job.

Florence always had a large circle of close friends she spent time with.  She enjoyed trips with her sisters, daughters and nieces, her morning coffee group and playing Bingo.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and never missed a televised game. She was a great Italian cook and made the best lasagna in the world.   Most of all she loved her family.

Florence didn't know a stranger and was loved by everyone she met.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Dowling, Mary Dreier, Lisa (John) Welshhons; daughter-in-law, Janis Lee; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosie Mayfield and Amelia Ciccone; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Lee; son, Gerald (Jerry) Lee; grandson, Christopher Dowling; parents, James and Nettie Cirillo; and four brothers and one sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola.
