IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floreen "Renie"
Wills
July 19, 1940 – September 20, 2023
Services for Floreen "Renie" Wills, 83, who passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at home, will be held 11 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2023 at Fairview Community Church, 19705 Highway 69, Indianola, IA 50125. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be held prior to service from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church where family will be present to greet friends. Inurnment of Alan and Renie will be held in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Renie was born July 19, 1940 on a small farm in Cavalier County, North Dakota to Fritz and Rosine (Harpasted) Klein. There she learned what hard work was, while sharing in the chores of milking the cows, canning the garden, running the tractor in the fields, and hauling hay.
Renie attended Alsen High School, where she showcased her talents of Cheer and Lasso, while cheering on the undefeated boys basketball team. After graduation, Renie moved to Des Moines, Iowa, to attend business school and later worked for the Iowa State Tax Commission. Renie found the love of her life, Alan, and they were wed October 6, 1962. After a short residency in North Dakota, they moved to the farm south of Indianola, Iowa, raised four daughters, Lisa, Rhonda, Shelly and Bonnie, and with her love of family and her faith, they found the Fairview Church and quickly became members. In the church, Renie took on various roles like CUWF member, working in the kitchen, leading songs, fundraising, and making the other church members a part of her family. On Sundays, she would cook a meal of beef and noodles, while inviting each pastor and their families over.
Renie was a stay-at-home mom, until her youngest, Bonnie attended school. Renie was employed by Iowa EPS cutting Styrofoam and eventually retired.
After 31 years on the farm, Alan and Renie moved to Indianola. This allowed them to spend more time attending the grandkids sports and activities most noteably her Chicago Cubs. Winn's Pizza and Steakhouse became a favorite place for Alan and Renie to frequent. They developed wonderful relationships with Winn, Sara and their staff and considered them all part of the family.
Renie is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Tim) Horton, Rhonda (Royce) Bishop, Shelly (Darin) Howell and Bonnie (Jon) Kilpatrick; nine grandchildren, Candace (Nathan) Inman, Angel Wills, Tyler (Kristina) Bishop, Laicee Bishop, Chris (Madison) Horton, Bre (Ricky) Rodriguez, Brittney Clark, Dylan (Hannah) Kilpatrick, and Cami Howell; eight great-grandchildren, Victoria, Alana, Croix, Maverick, Kellan, Rilynn, Myles and Elizabeth; three sisters, Carol Lee, Diane (Don) Schonauer and Sandra Tharaldson; one brother, Rod (Glenda) Klein; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alan; parents, Fred and Rosine Klein; two brothers-in-law, Ron Lee and Duane Tharaldson.
Family would like to give a special thank you to the care team, Shelly and Darin, Unity Point Hospice, and Tracy and Rhonda.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Community Church in her name, to be used in the kitchen area.
