Obituary

Services for Everett Marlin Waters, 84, who was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, surrounded by his family at the Kavanagh House on Grand in Des Moines when he lost his battle with lung cancer and subsequent pneumonia, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the North River Cemetery.

Everett was the son of Charles and Bernice Waters. On September 24, 1941, he married Evelyn McGee. He was a survivor of WWII and had received service bars, ribbons, a Bronze Battle Star, and Good Conduct Metals for his service in the United States Army. He was an over the road truck driver and manager of Pagano Meat Market until his retirement. He truly adored his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Janet (Gary) Bishop of Des Moines, Jerry Waters of Noblesville, IN, Judy (Harry) Piffer of Indianola, and Joyce Belew; 26 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren; and 23 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents; son, Jack Waters; infant son, Johnny Waters; brothers, Dean and Ted; sisters, Lucy Templeton and Marie Blackford; half brother, Charles (Red); and half sister, Velma.

Visitation will be held 3 – 8 p.m. on Friday, March 28 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
