Private graveside services for Evelyn Demory Labertew, 96, who died Thursday, August 27, 2009, will be held Monday in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 30 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be given to Farmer's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Evelyn was born March 5, 1913 in Artesian, South Dakota the daughter of Roy and Hazel Demory and moved to Indianola in 1914. She attended Farmer's Chapel school for two years and then two other schools before moving to Milo in 1923 where she graduated in 1931. In 1934 she moved with her family back to Indianola. She was married to Wayne Labertew on March 3, 1935. She had been a member of Farmer's Chapel United Methodist Church since 1937.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years; daughter, Fern Louise; son, Robert; parents; sisters, Doris Allen, June Willecockson, Ferne Stone; and brothers, William, Gerald and Ralph Demory.

She is survived by her son, Max (Coleen) Labertew; daughter-in-law, Betty Labertew; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Dawn) Labertew, Lynn (Patrick) Moore, Scott (Mala) Labertew, Joel (Angela) Labertew and Daniel Labertew; 6 great grandchildren; and brother, Glenn Demory.
