Obituary

Eureta Mae Adams Barr Keeney, 86, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the Village Health Center in Indianola. Services will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 10 at Overton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Eureta was born and raised in and around Spring Hill, Iowa. Living the majority of her life in Warren County as a young lady she moved to Indianola then later to the farm south of Indianola, where she resided until her stroke in August 2004, and since then she has been a resident at The Village Care Facility.

As a young girl she did housekeeping and later worked as a cook and baked pies for several Indianola cafés. One of the things she enjoyed most was caring for children, which is something she did until just the last few years.

Eureta was the oldest of twelve children, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur and Calista Merle (Hoadley) Adams; four brothers, Richard Dean, Glenn, Don and Henry; three sisters, Martha Olive, Mary Eloise and Rosemary Adams Kaufman. Also preceeding her in death were her husbands, Leroy Keith Barr and Silas George Keeney, Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Bobbi Estes Keeney.

She is survived by three brothers, a sister and their families: Howard and Geni Adams of Dallas, TX and Nada Adams of Marrero, LA; Warren and Ruth Adams of Marrero, LA and Vernon and Beverlee Adams of Grimes; Marilyn and Lavern Greif of Dallas Center. She was the mother of seven children and was guardian of three of her grandsons. Children and spouses are: Carolyn (Barr) and Larry Putz of Newton; Larry and Glenda Barr of Indianola; Roger and Carol Keeney of Milo; Ann Marie (Keeney) and Steve Githens of Indianola; Janice (Keeney) and John Degner of Lincoln, NE; David Keeney of Indianola; and Lyle Keeney of South St. Paul, MN. Grandchildren are: Shelly, Calista and Daniel Putz, Kevin and Chris Barr, Kim Barr Rasko, Terry, Daniel and Brandy Keeney, Gary Dale, Chad Keeney, Jeff and Sarah Degner, Elizabeth Keeney and Wesley Keeney. She also has five step grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Eureta was a very caring and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother aunt and friend to many.

Visitation with family present will be held 1:00 – 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 10, at Overton Funeral Home.
