IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eugene William
Krumm
June 22, 1942 – October 23, 2023
Eugene "Gene" Krumm died peacefully on October 23, 2023, on the family farm in Earlham, Iowa, surrounded by loved ones. Services will be held 11am, Tuesday October 31, 2023 at the Van Meter United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held, prior to the services, from 10am to 11am.
Gene was born on June 22, 1942, in Adair, Iowa, to parents LeRoy and Marian (Correll) Krumm. He graduated from Adair Casey High school in 1961 and also attended Morningside College and NW Missouri State College. Gene served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966.
Gene then became an Air Traffic Controller, working for the Federal Aviation Administration from 1968 until 1985. He then owned his own insurance brokerage firm, Krumm and Associates, from 1985 until 2004. Gene served as the Dallas County Auditor from 2004 until 2016, when he retired from that role.
On June 29, 1968, Gene married Jane Deitrick, and together they were blessed with three children, Kristy, Kevin and Kurtis. Gene and Jane raised their family on the farm in Earlham, Iowa, which is where they spent their next 55 years of marriage.
In his retirement, Gene enjoyed life on the "farm," coffee daily with the Earlham "gang," time at the lake, grandkids' activities and family time. Per Gene, family was the most important - nothing made him prouder.
He also served in various roles with the American Legion (Dexter, Iowa branch), the IOOF (in Clear Lake) and the Iowa Employer Support of Guard and Reserves. He and Jane were also members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Gene is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Kristy (Brian) Blumhagen, Kevin (Gretchen), and Kurtis (Deanne); grandchildren, Owen, Olivia, Max, Troy, Jessica, Hines, Laurel and Sage; sister, Mary Ann Bates; and many nieces and nephews.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Marian Krumm and brothers LeRoy, John and Paul.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Hospital, in Gene's name. https://www.stjude.org/
