Esther was born in St. Charles and was an elementary teacher at Summerset, Round Grove, and Martensdale/St Marys. She grew up in the Indianola Friends Church and was a member of the Chapel of Faith Church in Indianola.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Sally) Wood of Indianola; four grandchildren, Todd (Diane) Wood of Oakton, VA, Stacy (Scott) Thomas of Indianola, Tom (Denise) Wood of Norwalk and Roxanne Wood; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clive Wood; parents, Walter and Anna Edwards; son, Franklin; five brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be held 4 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m.
