Services for Esther A. Wark, 93, formerly of Indianola, IA, who passed away March 7, 2020, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services starting at 9:30 a.m.
Esther was born on November 1, 1926 in Anita, IA, the daughter of Leonard and Addie (Oberholtz) Rork. Esther graduated from Anita High School, received her Bachelor's Degree from Simpson College and her Master's Degree from Northwest Missouri State in Marysville, MO.
On August 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to William Wark. To this union three sons were born, Ronald, Randal and David. The family moved from Arnolds Park to Indianola in 1964 and following his death she moved to Milton, FL. in 2010. She had taught school for 35 years at Irving Elementary School in Indianola and she and her husband owned a Christmas Tree Farm. Esther enjoyed quilting, spending time with her grandchildren, attending auctions, antiquing and square dancing.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald (Beverly) Wark and David (Rox Anne) Wark; daughter-in-law, Sandra Wark; sister, Ella Brosh; brother, James Rork; five grandchildren, Nathaniel (Sundae) Wark, Brandon (Tammy Thompson) Wark, Belinda (Mike) Manning, Lisa Mueller, Kerri (Al) Galvin; thirteen great-grandchildren, Tianna Agerton, Brett Wark and Zander Jordan, Jake and Cooper Thompson, Jana, Jace and Jack Howard, Landree, Lillian and Lauryn Galvin, Nathan and Samantha Mueller; and one great great-granddaughter, Elianna Barron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wark; son, Randal Wark; parents, Leonard and Addie Rork; sisters, Edith Norris and Evelyn Brown; brother, Fred Rork; and great-grandson, Grey Manning.
