Betty Schaffer, 83, of Indianola passed away Saturday August 1st, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Betty was preceeded in death by her mother, Swanhild Pierson and her father Clyde Pierson. Betty is survived by her brothers, Jerry (Kathy) Pierson of Indianola, Jack (Kathy) Pierson of Phoenix, AZ; her children, Kenneth (Tammy) Schaffer of Belvidere, IL, Lorrie (James) Peters of Indianola, IA, Bobby (Christina) of Arkansas, Dave (Nett) Schaffer of Milo, IA; her seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Betty worked as a cook/waitress in Belvidere at 4 restaurants. Betty was a big John Wayne fan, loved to play bingo, go to fairs, and enjoyed being with friends and family. A celebration of life will be held on a future date. Donations can be made in Betty's memory to Westview Care Centers activity department in Indianola.
