Obituary

Funeral Services for Elizabeth Clark, 64, who passed away Friday, July 6, 2018, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the Christian Life Assembly of God Church 9001 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, IA 50321.  Cremation will follow services.

Elizabeth grew up north of Spring Hill on a farm. She graduated from Indianola in 1972 and after graduating from Iowa State University in 1976, she went on to receive a degree from the other three public universities in Iowa. Elizabeth's first job as a Family and Consumer Science teacher took her to Wilton, Iowa. She then pursued a position at Urbana where she taught and coached softball.

Elizabeth married Randy Clark on July 27, 1990. Elizabeth and Randy then moved back to her home area where she would complete her career at the Indianola High School. Elizabeth was well known as she served many roles in the school district: cheer and dance coach, guidance counselor, dean of students, and assistant principal. Elizabeth was heavily involved with the Indianola Booster Club running the concession stands.

Elizabeth was well-known and active in the community. She was recognized as the WHO Golden Apple Award recipient in 2016, recognizing her as one of the most respected advisor/teachers in the state. Elizabeth served on the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association Board for several years and enjoyed sewing uniforms for the dancers at the state basketball tournament and for the high school dance competition. She coached multiple dance teams to high rankings at Nationals in competitions from Florida to Texas.

Elizabeth's greatest hope was that her family was always happy and she was determined to do whatever she could to make that happen. She wanted to please and do whatever she could to make anyone happy or smile. She loved spending time with her grandkids, crafting, and taking trips. Her most memorable trips were to Texas and cruises. This past summer she took a trip to South Dakota with Alice, Laura and Jamie and that was a place she always wanted to go back to.

Elizabeth (Liz) May Clark is survived by husband, Randy Clark; children, Kevin (Jenni) Jenkins, Shane (Tena) Clark, Charles (Taylor) Clark, Alice (Dallas) Richardson, and Shawn Clark; grandchildren, Lauren and Cole Clark, Bella, Emma, Esme, and Jay Jenkins, Holt Clark, Marissa Clark, Devin Smith, Easton Clark and one expected soon; her parents, Donald and Isabel (Miller) Berry; siblings, Jean (Sean) McGuire, John (Roberta) Berry, Frank Berry; niece, Angie (Nate) Chaney; nephews, Jack (Danielle) Berry, Connor McGuire, Mitchell Berry.
