Elihu Allen Wheeler, 85, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 with his family present.

Elihu was born August 14, 1925 in Boone County, Iowa to John and Magolia Wheeler. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Wilma, and his children Cheryl (Will) Wimmer, Connie (Herb) Ruble, Norma Cambron (Denny Langer) and Bud (Rosemary) Wheeler. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, sisters Ella Miller and Madonna Taylor.

Elihu was preceded in death by his brother John and granddaughter Jolene. Elihu served in the US Navy and retired from John Deere after 34 years. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 165 in which he served as commander.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Overton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 24 at Overton Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post 165 in Indianola or Hospice of Central Iowa.
