Eleanor Louise (Ewert) Hutchinson, passed away on February 10 at Westview Care Center at the age of 84. Born in Minneapolis, MN to Paul and Amanda Ewert, she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS in Nursing Education and worked as a pediatrics instructor at Fairview and Minneapolis General Hospitals. Elly met Richard Hutchinson on a ski trip with Luther League and they were married March 6, 1965. After moving to Indianola, IA with their two children, David and Susan, she worked as Director of Nursing at Good Samaritan, Madison County Hospital, and The Village. She was active at Trinity Presbyterian Church. A five-time breast cancer survivor, she was active with Relay for Life. Her compassion for others lives on in our memories. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Hutchinson, brother Donald Ewert, and sister Lois Buys. Survivors include her son, David (Nancy) Hutchinson of Portland, OR; daughter, Susan (Kevin) Blader of Winterset, IA; and granddaughters, Abigail and Anna of Winterset. Services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola with visitation one hour prior to services.
