Funeral services for Eldon B. Groves, 84, who died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center will be held 11 a.m., Friday, February 15 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Eldon was born in Dallas County, Iowa lived in Indianola most of his adult life. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 12th Armor division serving in the European Theatre receiving the Silver Star. He was a Service Manager for Iles McKinney Wolf retiring in 1982. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing pool and playing cards.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Flora; sons, Phil of Albuquerque, NM, Larry of Martensdale and Dennis Chaplin of Des Moines; daughters, Linda Allen of Indianola, Kay Ault of Ankeny and Lee Anne Chaplin of Cainsville, MO; step sons, Lee McDole of Idaho and Jim McDole of Des Moines; step daughters, Rosemary Mealey and Sheila Spence of Indianola and Vicki Pottinger of Norwalk; sister, Anna Marie Bryant of Council Bluffs; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren and 21 step great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 2 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14 at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa or the Indianola Good Samaritan Center.
