Services for Elaine Bumgarner, 82, who died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at The Village Health Center in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 14 at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola of which she was a member. Burial will follow in the Liberty Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday.

Born December 9, 1923, in Warren County to Lela (Long) and Andrew Simmerman, Elaine graduated from high school and continued her education receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree and Masters Degree from Drake University in Des Moines. She was a Math teacher for many years prior to retiring from the Indianola High School. She was a member of Indianola Order of Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Warren County Historical Society, Warren County Farm Bureau and the Indianola Shakespeare Club.

She was united in marriage to Darl Bumgarner on March 24, 1945.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Darl Bumgarner of Indianola; sister, Aleine Harris of Des Moines and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Maurine Barnett.

Memorials may be given to her church.
