EILEEN J. TOMLINSON Indianola Eileen Janet Tomlinson, 90, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at The Village Health Center in Indianola. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Indianola, Iowa, with a time of fellowship and refreshment following. Eileen was born January 29, 1921 in Otoe, Nebraska, to Chester and Clara (Hackman) Ganzel. She attended a one-room school and later taught in several one-room schools. Eileen completed her undergraduate degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University and attained a Master's in Christian Education from Garrett Biblical Institute/Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where she met her future husband. She married William "Bill" Tomlinson on September 24, 1950, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She dedicated her life to her family and to the work of the church, serving in ministry with her husband as he pastored numerous United Methodist parishes throughout Iowa. She was active in United Methodist Women as well as teaching many church school classes over the years. Eileen cared deeply about others and showed kindness to all she knew. Eileen is survived by her husband Bill; brother Dwight Ganzel; her daughtersKathleen (Larry) McKay of American Fork, Utah, and Muriel (Jim) Pemble of Des Moines; her sonWalter (David Ross) Tomlinson of Urbandale; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her sister.
