Funeral services for Edwin R. Wilbur, 89, who died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center, will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial with military rites will be in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery

Edwin was born south of Indianola, he had been a resident of Indianola for the past 55 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was self-employed as a carpenter contractor throughout his adult life. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and following his sons sports careers in football and wrestling.

Surviving are his wife, Caryll of Indianola; his son, Stephen (Khristina) of Newton, IA; and one grandchild, Matthew Wilbur of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his son Gary.

Visitation will be held 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
