Memorial services for Edward "Ed" Garity, 69, of Indianola, who passed away April 3, 2017 in Apache Junction, AZ will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Ed was born in Creston, IA on June 24, 1947 to James and Mary (Dant) Garity. He graduated from Murray Community High School in May of 1966. In August of 1970 he married Sharon Bierce and to this union Mary was born.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, camping and hiking the mountains in Arizona as well as spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Mary (Scott) McDonald; grandchildren, Scott, Noah McDonald; great-grandchild, Arabella Heldt; siblings, Laura O'Riley, Arvada, CO, Rose Mary Kneedler, Bosque Farms, NM, Frederick (Elaine) Garity, Cedar Rapids, IA, Patrick (Linda) Garrity, Littleton, CO, Agnes Burton, Hays Spring, NE, David Garity, Corydon, IA, Teresa (Lonny) Reynolds, Osceola, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Garity; brothers, Michael, Richard, Joseph and Theodore Garity; sisters, Margaret Blazek, Helen Gillen and Martha Miller.
