Obituary

Edna Mae (Gigi) Finck, age 95, passed away peacefully at Westview Care Center in Indianola, IA on February 8, 2025. Edna Mae was born on October 13, 1929 to Chris and Winnie (Matthews) Jorgensen. She had strong roots in Fontanelle, IA and loved to tell you the stories of her Momma, Daddy and 10 siblings - whom she has happily reunited with in heaven.

Edna Mae married the love of her life, Calvin, on March 31,1950. They raised their two boys in Indianola, IA, Kirk and Monty, before Calvin passed in 1997. She was lucky to have lived in the same home on South G for nearly 60 years, where family would join for gatherings and Christmas Eve; including her four grandchildren along with their families and her eight great-grands. This earned her the title of Gigi that she had become so well known for.

She loved reading and gardening — she was part of a club for each when able. Edna Mae also enjoyed traveling, but as she got older, she would help send her family off on adventures with one request of a trinket to bring back for her. This started one of her two collections; magnets from all over – and the other being the wearable pins she would often have on with a pretty sweater. Most of all, Edna Mae loved having visitors and kept in touch with many.

Edna Mae is survived by her sons Kirk (Gwen) and Monty (Sharon); grandchildren Jasiah, Tyson, Tiffany (Bryan) and Melissa (Jerimy); great grandchildren Jabin, Kaedon, Taylor, Jaxon, Coen, Journey, Xavier and Jemma; along with other relatives and friends. The family is especially grateful for her neighbors of many years, Joe and Lori Nehring; nieces Phyllis, Jolene (Dave), Kathy, Sherry and Ronda; nephew Jon and friends Kris Erickson and Connie Candee for all their love and support.

Edna Mae will be buried next to her husband, Calvin, in Indianola, IA. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
