Services for Earl L. McKinney, 84, who passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Des Moines, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12 at the Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Earl was born on January 7, 1928, in Rural Madison County, Iowa, the son of Luther Crit and Alma (Peterson) McKinney. Earl graduated from the Winterset High School. On November 24, 1949 he was united in marriage to Norma Louise Fetters. Earl had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Earl was a member of the Indianola Friends Church, where he proudly served as a Trustee for over 50 years. Earl is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Martin McKinney of Indianola, Karen (Brad) Stouwie of Box Elder, S.D., and Marcia (Duane) Van Dike of Norwalk, IA; five grandchildren, Austin McKinney, Valerie Stouwie, Lynn Sidman, Melissa Van Dike and Julie Van Dike; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Trent, Sydney Van Dike and Jadalyn Thomas; his brother, Larry McKinney and sister, Elsie Manning. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Alma McKinney and one brother, Paul McKinney.
