Funeral services for E. Ruth Iverson, 76, who died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 4 at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola of which she was a member. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Born in Grinnell, Iowa, she graduated from Victor High School and the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She continued her education at Colorado State where she received her Masters Degree in Home Economics. She was united in marriage to Dean Iverson on December 21, 1947. She taught school for one year in Conroy, two years in Waterville, one year in Waukon, one year in Indianola; and three years at Simpson College. She retired from the Interstate 35 school district after 28 years in 1987.

She was a member of Eastern Star No. 338 for 60 years. She was a past worthy matron and played the organ for 25 years. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter NG.

She is survived by her husband, Dean; sons, Paul Iverson of Rochester, MN and Gale Iverson of Indianola; sisters, Marie Atkins of Arnold, MD and Esther Edelen of Indianola; three grandsons; 1 step-granddaughter; and 1 step Great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Pratt.

Visitation will be held 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Eastern Star services will be held 7:45 p.m., Friday and the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to the First United Methodist Church or Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
