Obituary

A Funeral Mass for Dwight D. Nickelson, 79, who died Friday, October 28, 2005, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 31 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Indianola of which he was a member. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Dwight was born in Oakley, Iowa and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a diesel Mechanic for Rock Island Motor Transit and Mid American Recycling in Des Moines. He had lived in Indianola since 1959 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post #165 in Indianola.

Survivors included his wife Luella; sons, Rick (Renee) Nickelson of Indianola and Roger (Joan) Nickelson of Greenwood, IN; daughter, Rebecca (Rick) Hall of Indianola; sister, Ardrid Worley of Kansas City, MO; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation, with family present, will be 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30 at Overton Funeral Home. A Knights of Columbus service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday followed by a Scripture service at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the family in his name.
