Duane P. Parsons, 78, of Norwalk, Iowa, passed away at home on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Duane was born on March 26, 1948, in Iowa to Richard Paul Parsons and Patricia (Wilson) Parsons. He attended school in Indianola and was drafted into the Army shortly after graduating from high school in 1966. Following basic training, he was sent to Vietnam. Upon returning to the United States, he was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, to complete his military service.

After his discharge from the Army, Duane attended Iowa State University in Ames, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He began his career as a mechanical engineer in Kansas City, Missouri, before returning to Iowa to work for Brown Engineering Company.

Duane was a member of several clubs and had a strong interest in trains, both full-size and model, as well as Caterpillar machinery and other historical construction equipment.

Duane is survived by his sister, Kathryn Thompson; his nephew, Joshua Thompson; his stepbrother, Joshua Owens; and many cousins from the Parsons and Wilson families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Patricia; stepmother, Toni Owens.
