A Celebration of Life Gathering for Doug Reinert, 72, of West Des Moines, who passed away after a brief battle with glioblastoma at EveryStep Kavanagh House on September 18, 2026, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home, 501 W Ashland Ave. Indianola, Iowa 50125. Doug was born in LeMars, Iowa to Leonard and Patricia (Steichen) Reinert. His family moved to Indianola when he was in the 5th grade, and he graduated from Indianola High School in 1972. Doug proudly worked for CemenTech in Indianola for 26 years starting in 1979 as one of the first few employees and served as Production Manager for most of those years. He finished out his career at Herberger Construction where he thoroughly enjoyed a wide range of duties.His younger years were spent hunting, archery shoots, chopping wood, bicycle riding, camping, and building furniture. In his retirement, Doug enjoyed traveling with his family, reading, and caring for the yard. Doug is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pam Reinert; children Lindsy Reinert (Amy Van Pelt) of West Des Moines, and Kylie Barnes of West Des Moines; siblings, Tim Reinert of Newton, Dan (Denise) Reinert of Indianola, Linda (Dennis) Herberger of Indianola, and Beth Allsup of Chino, Arizona; Brother- and Sister-in-law Tim and Kathy Neal of Fort Collins, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Arvard and Wilma Neal of Kearney Nebraska, and sisters-in-law Lori Neal and Joyce Reinert.
