Obituary

Services for Dorothy M. Roush, 87, formerly of Marshalltown, who died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown where the family will greet friends one hour prior to services.  Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.

Dorothy M. Lawton, the daughter of Robert W. and Fanny (Bates) Lawton was born October 22, 1920 in Brazil, Iowa.  She was the third child of five.  The family moved to Newton where she grew up and graduated in 1938.  Dorothy was very active in the church where she met her future husband, Herbert W. Roush.  They married October 11, 1942 in Newton, Ia.  Their first child, Ragan was born while Herb was serving in the United States Army in Europe.  When Herb returned, he and Dorothy established their home together and their family grew with their first daughter, Diana and again with their second daughter, Nancy.  They moved to Marshalltown in 1954 where Dorothy went to work for Lennox in 1964 until her retirement in 1983.  In 1997, Dorothy moved to Indianola to be closer to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; son, Ragan; sister, Freda and grandson, Jerry Roush.  She is survived by her daughters, Diana (John) Kilbride and Nancy Morrow; daughter-in-law, Lori Roush; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, John and Harold Lawton; sister, Priscilla Hayler.

Visitation will be held 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 10 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.  Memorials may be given to Warren County Home Health.  On Line condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
