Services for Dorothy L. McCauley, 81, who passed away Friday, December 17, 2021 in Des Moines, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Indianola First Baptist Church.  Burial will be in the Belmont Cemetery, Milo, IA.

Dorothy was born on January 17, 1940 to Everett and Thelma (Penick) Haltom at home in the community of Puckerbrush in Lucas County, IA.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Dean McCauley on August 22, 1959 at the Norwood E.U.B. church.  They were blessed with three children, Victor, Vonna and Verna.

She enjoyed her art work as a hobby and traveling to workshops across the United States.  She won many ribbons and awards for her paintings.

Dorothy accepted the Lord as a teenager and was active in the church for many years, teaching a Sunday School class, President of the C. U. W. F. and working in different capacities in the church.  She enjoyed doing "Chalk Talks" in different churches and organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Vonna Brown.  Dorothy is survived by her husband, Robert McCauley; children, Victor (Vicky) McCauley, and Verna McCauley; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Jim) Hamilton; twin sister, Doris Canavan; brother, Rusty (Lila) Haltom; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Memorials may be made to Belmont Cemetery or to the family.
