IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Irene
Law
July 3, 1917 – January 20, 2021
Dorothy Irene Law (103) was born to Ralph and Nellie (Simmerman) New on July 3, 1917, in Cool, Warren County, Iowa. She was the third of four daughters.
She grew up on Warren County farms and in 1934 she graduated from Liberty Center High School. In 1937 she was married to Harold E. Law, a farmer who transitioned to become a semi-truck driver for 35 years. To this union three children were born: Larry L. Law, Lynn I. Law, and a daughter Myrna L. Law. When her children were grown, Dorothy started working in downtown Des Moines in the financial businesses.
Dorothy was an avid reader of books, mostly novels. She loved to be helpful and music was a must. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, had a craving for chocolate, and was known for the peanut clusters she made for so many years. Dorothy was a bowler with passion and liked to listen and tell jokes—anything to cause a smile.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her daughter, Myrna, and daughter-in-law Joan (Larry), in addition to her three sisters Pearl Thompson, Eva Mae Herron, and Lorraine Brown.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Larry and Lynn (Dottie), seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Dorothy believed everyone should have love and laughter, health and happiness, peace and a double helping of everything good!
