Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth Hunerdosse, 95, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with burial following in the IOOF Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Indianola.

Dorothy Elizabeth Skinner was born January 25, 1928 to Arthur and Gladys (Parker) Skinner on the farmstead in rural Jasper County. Dorothy met Darl after she and her family moved to Des Moines and lived next to Darl's older sister Esther and her husband Paul Hon who introduced them. Darl and Dorothy were married in her parents' home on March 12, 1949. Darl and Dorothy moved to rural Warren County to the farm that she referred to as the hill. It was here that they both lived the rest of their lives and would be home for themselves and their seven children. To say that Dorothy loved to sew is an understatement. Whether sewing, knitting, crocheting, doing needle point, or making endless clothing for the kids and herself, they were always met with the same focus, absolute perfection. Hard work was always engrained throughout their life on the farm. While not always easy there was never a want. Even the weekly task of taking eggs to Des Moines to sell, provided the means to buy groceries but also a guaranteed stop at McDonalds on the trip home. Dorothy loved and cherished her life on the farm and her children who in time would bring twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Above all, Dorothy never tired of her precious view from the hill.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Carol Towe, Sandy Hunerdosse, Ronald (RoxAnne) Hunerdosse, Gary (Amy) Hunerdosse, David (Brenda) Hunerdosse, and Karen (Dan) Stanley; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matt) Ward, Jason (Erin Poloncsik) Towe, Emily (Gary Strashoon) Towe, Megan (Alex Vendramini) Towe, Jennifer (Derrick) Nixon, Michael Baccus, Travis (Ken Des Jardins) Hunerdosse, Aaron (Kara) Hunerdosse, Ryan (Taylor Losee) Hunerdosse, Reece Hunerdosse, Amanda (Jason) Maring, Justin (Lindsay) Hunerdosse, Kimmie (Dave) Trabilsy, Brandon (Min Hye) Hansen-Hunerdosse, Levi (Maddi) Hunerdosse, Sammy Jo (Chase) Reynolds, Jake (Madison Durflinger) Hunerdosse, Lindsay (Jordan) Below, Brittany (Justin) Owens, and Delaney (Chris) Bingea; 24 great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Darl; children, Catherine Baccus and Donald Hunerdosse; grandson, Joe Hunerdosse; parents, Arthur and Gladys Skinner; and siblings, Howard, Walter and Dale Skinner.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home.  Memorials may be given, in Dorothy's name, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
