DONNA LEE SEREG

Donna Lee Sereg, 86, passed peacefully with her family present on November 18, 2017 in Indianola, IA.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 24, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 210 R 63 Highway, Indianola, IA 50125. A mass of Christian Burial with be held at 10:30 a.m. on November 25, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Indianola.  Burial to be at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Indianola, beside her spouse, John E., who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her nine children, Barbara Roby (Daniel), John Michael Sereg (Karen), James Robert Sereg, David Sereg (Pamela), Charles Sereg (Brenda), Patricia Alexander (David), Ruth Sereg (Mark Van Oort), Carol Jensen (Terry), Jane Bachmann (Kevin); 22 grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew, Douglas, Carissa, Nicki-Lee, Jamie, Mary, Catherine, Josephine, Elizabeth, Anthony, David John, Steven, Stephanie, Anna, Ashley, Marcus, Kaila, Sam, Amber, Mark and Kate; sixteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

Donna was actively involved in Religious Education for over thirty years, sharing her love for the Lord with hundreds of children. She received an award in 2001 from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for recognition of her service in educating the children of the parish. Many of those children have continued their relationship with her. Donna was a 4-H leader for over 20 years. She was awarded the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame for Service in 2009 for her Outstanding Service and Dedication to 4-H. Donna received the 1995 Elgin Family Memorial Award for Outstanding Leadership in 4-H. The award Donna was most proud of was her children and family.

Donna was preceded in death by her spouse, John E. Sereg; grandchild, Joseph; daughter-in-law,  Josephine; sister and parents.
