Funeral services for Donna Jean Hayhurst, 85, who passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019, will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, February 16, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Donna was born April 10, 1933 in rural Wayne County, IA, the daughter of James Orlie and Pearl E. (Elder) Hayhurst.  She graduated from Corydon High School.

Donna was united in marriage to Carl Eugene Van Fleet and to this union five children were born, Judy Ann, Sue Ellen, Bobby Eugene, Margie Jean, and Shirley Lou.

Donna had lived in Corydon, Newton, Dows, and Laurens, IA., and lived for a short time in Illinois before returning to Iowa in 1976.  She had lived at McCord Manor in Indianola and moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home three years ago.  She enjoyed art, oil painting and music. She also loved to read and research the Bible, put puzzles together, and family was very important to her.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Bill) McCollough, Margie (Bob) Ellis, Shirley Fallin; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sue Kimble; son, Bobby Van Fleet; sisters, Opel Hayhurst and Ruby Carlson; and brothers, James, Floyd and Gearld Hayhurst.

Memorials may be given to the activities department at the Indianola Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home.
