Donald R. Smith, 85, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at the Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Donald was born near Spring Hill, Iowa on March 2, 1921, the son of Ray and Keithel (Lockridge) Smith and was united in marriage to Ernestine Boothe on March 23, 1945. He was a farmer and raised dairy and beef cattle.

He is survived by his wife, Ernestine Smith; daughters, Kay (Ray) Chittenden of Indianola, Cheryl (Casey) Kazebeer of Des Moines, Priscilla (Jeff) Penrod of Riverside, CA, and Julie (Jeff) Eyberg of Martensdale; sister, Maxiene Mosher of Indianola; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a granddaughter, Jordan Eyberg.

Visitation will be held 3 – 8 p.m., Friday, February 16 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the church or Kavanagh House on 56th Street.
