Donald P. Wood, 87, passed from this life Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at home.  A memorial mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 12 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola.  Burial of cremains with military rites will be in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Donald Paul Wood was born September 3, 1929 in Indianola, Iowa, the son of Paul H. and Dorothy (Judkins) Wood.  He graduated from Indianola High School and served four years in the United States Air Force.

On October 12, 1957 he was united in marriage to Margaret Kelch in Corwith, Iowa.  He was employed for over 40 years with Farmers Casualty in Des Moines and following retirement he worked 20 years with Linden Storage in Indianola.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Wood; children, Doug (Sonya) Wood; Diane (Peter) Sand, Dan (Nancy) Wood; grandchildren, Sophia Wood, Abby (Justin) Brandl, Wilson LeGrand, Allison Sand, Alayna Sand, Justin Warnock, Dillon Wood, and Lauren Wood; great-grandsons, Emerick, Anders and Luca Brandl; brother, Richard (Janet) Wood.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Betty Forst.
