Born in Pleasantville, Iowa, Donald graduated from Milo High School and farmed for the Goodhue family near Ackworth. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a former member of the Ackworth Friends Church, loved gardening, the State Fair and his family.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; son Rich Kading of Winterset; daughters, Karen Pedersen of Davenport and LaDonna Overton of Carlisle; sister Betty Lou Schrier of Carlisle; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sheryl Butcher; infant brother Kenneth; infant sister LaVeda Fern; brother Arland Dale; sister Frances Garland and one granddaughter Julia Kading.

Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be designated to the American Lung Association or Quakerdale, New Providence, Iowa.
